Regrinding the conical cutting die increases the cutting clearance. This leads to a change in the smooth cut proportion or can lead to tolerance changes.

Eqn. 1
\require{color}\definecolor{myred}{RGB}{255,0,0} \Delta u_{\color{myred}S}=\Delta h\cdot\tan\left(\frac{\alpha\cdot\mathrm\pi}{60\cdot180}\right)
Cutting gap changeΔ uS=0.003mm
Elevation changeΔ h = 1mm
Angleα = 10'
Calc 1

Ex. I With α = 10', the cutting clearance increases by 0.003 mm if the cutting die is ground down by 1 mm.

Ex. II With α = 30', the cutting clearance increases by 0.003 mm when the cutting die is ground down by 0.3 mm.
