The deep drawing safety according to Engelhardt is a test method. First, a sheet metal cup is pulled beyond the maximum drawing force. Then the rest of the flange is clamped in and the cup is formed down to the cup base fracture. The deep drawing safety results from the difference between the tearing force and the maximum drawing force.16
